I am proud to announce the Anderson Theatre Awards. Each month I will posting Best of Kansas City Theatre awards chosen by Terry and Glenna Anderson, the patron saints of KC Theatre and Cake.
Many of you know Terry and Glenna Anderson, I’m sure. If you have performed in Kansas City in the past 10 years you have a special place in your heart for the Andersons’ cakes. These genuinely kind, shockingly prolific theatre-goers attend in excess of 140 live performances each year throughout the KC area. And to each one they bring cake. Custom decorated cakes. Sometimes 2 or 3, depending how large the cast is!
The Andersons are the ultimate supporters of the performing arts in Kansas City, our very own Medci. I cannot imagine a better couple to point out the successes of the KC theatre scene that resonated with the audience. Terry spends hours researching each and every script that is produced in Kansas City in order to customize each cake. And they see everything. On opening night (or close) the Andersons arrive, cake in tow, sitting in the front row, supporting and feeding every theatre artist in Kansas City. Their commitment to Kansas City theatre is unparalleled.
This is my attempt to honor their commitment to supporting KC arts. And my attempt to honor the continually strong work the local theatre artists are constantly producing.
So without further ado:
